Frequently Asked Questions
Skin Care
I always recommend seeing a facialist who knows skin inside out. It’s also worth noting that achieving great skin isn’t just about what you put on it; it’s also about your lifestyle and what you put inside your body. If you suffer with acne, Emilia Nutrition offers one-on-one consultations and a plan to transform your skin!
The foundation to a great skincare routine is the cleansing routine. A fragrance-free cleansing balm/oil followed by another gentle cleanser is the best thing you can do for your skin. Refer to my skincare guide for more guidance/recommendations.
Trial
Booking in your trial 3-4 months before your wedding date will allow enough time for any changes and will ensure the makeup look is fresh in your mind. Sometimes too much time between the trial and your wedding date can make you second guess your choices. I feel this is true for everything, even when looking for a dress!
Bring lots of inspo photos to your trial: photos of your dress, hair, flowers, etc. The more the better!
While Pinterest is great for home inspo, sometimes I find the makeup images to be heavily photoshopped. Red carpet photos of celebrities tend to be better for inspiration as they are unedited and portray realistic skin.
Trials can be booked in Wednesday-Friday. Weekends are reserved solely for weddings.
Timings
So you’ve done all the planning and now it’s finally time for the big day! Makeup timings on the wedding morning will ensure everyone has an idea of the time keeping so that you get that crucial final hour prior to your ceremony to get dressed (most important!). Spend quality time with your besties and take a moment to soak it all in.
I always allow 45 mins for bridesmaids and depending on the makeup look 30-45 mins for mother of the bride/groom.
I’d advise for brides to have their makeup done third, depending on the bridal party number. Bridal makeup usually takes between 1-1.5 hours, again depending on the look.
